The fifth annual Kenneth Vickers Memorial Golf Tournament, presented by Avison Young, raised $25,000 for Breakthrough’s students and mission. Kenneth Vickers was a senior project manager at Cushman and Wakefield who passed away unexpectedly in 2012
Breakthrough receives $1 million donation from Gregg and Diana Lowe
Breakthrough is thrilled to announce we have received the largest donation in our organization’s history from Diana and Gregg Lowe. The Lowes issued the gift as a challenge grant to launch the “More Breakthroughs, Brighter Futures” Growth Campaign with a goal of raising $2 million to support the enrollment of 600 additional Breakthrough students.
Slam Poetry with Breakthrough 9th Graders
Breakthrough hosted its fourth writing workshop of the year for its ninth grade students. The workshop was far from the ordinary writing session and featured fun activities for the students to enhance their writing skills, including the third annual Breakthrough Poetry Slam.
Students Hold Mock College Fair
More than 100 students attended the day-long event, where they worked with their St. Andrew’s high school student mentors to make finishing touches on college posters, prepare talking points, and act as college representatives in a mock college fair.
Students Explore Careers at Bazaarvoice
As part of its $25,000 grant to Breakthrough, the Bazaarvoice Foundation generously offers an entire day at the company’s headquarters to show students what it’s like to work in the tech industry.
