The work of Manor area middle school students over the past three months culminated in a College Fair held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School at the end of November.  More than 100 students attended the day-long event, where they worked with their St. Andrew’s high school student mentors to make finishing touches on college posters, prepare talking points, and act as college representatives in a mock college fair.  Attending the fair were more than 50 families from the Breakthrough and St. Andrew’s community, who probed the students for details on acceptance rates and popular majors.  Breakthrough believes exposing students to college knowledge in middle school is essential in creating and reinforcing the goal to become a first- generation college graduate.
