ENGAGE WITH OUR STUDENTS
HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Friday, June 23, 11:30–1:30 p.m. at Del Valle Opportunity Center (50 volunteers needed)
Friday, July 7, 11:30–1:30 p.m. at UT Austin (50 volunteers needed)
Thursday, July 27, 11:30–1:30 p.m. at Manor New Tech High School (50 volunteers needed)
The Leadership Institute will help our 10th-grade students develop life skills that are essential to their success in college and beyond. This year, students will take on the role of college recruiters and give their best pitch to persuade prospective students (community volunteers) to attend their campus. Students will demonstrate their college knowledge, leadership, and communication skills covered over our two-week program in a concise, refined presentation to adult volunteers and partners. Volunteers will have the opportunity to share meaningful feedback and vote for their top pitches.
BREAKTHROUGH INTERNSHIP NETWORK PRESENTATIONS OF LEARNING
Friday, August 4, 11:00-2:30 p.m. at location TBA (50 volunteers needed)
The Breakthrough Internship Network is a collaborative internship program for Breakthrough and KIPP college students to gain invaluable professional experience through paid internships at businesses in the Austin area. At the conclusion of these internships, students will give presentations on what the experience taught them to a panel of volunteers.
When RSVPing, please let us know which event you’d like to attend.
