Experience Breakthrough: Tour our program or Volunteer at one of our summer programs
OBSERVE OUR PROGRAM
SUMMER VISITORS DAYS
The six-week, academically intensive summer program for middle school students is the cornerstone of Breakthrough’s program. During Visitors Days, community members are invited to observe our program in action, take a tour and meet Breakthrough students and teaching fellows.
Thursday, June 30 from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM at UT Austin
Tuesday, July 12 from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM at Manor New Tech Middle School, Manor
Tuesday, July 19 from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM at St. Andrews Upper School
Wednesday, July 20 from 8:30-10:00 AM at Dailey Middle School, Del Valle
ENGAGE WITH OUR STUDENTS
As the culmination of Breakthrough’s summer program, students at each grade level demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed by participating in Presentations of Learning. Community volunteers are asked to provide essential feedback on student presentations.
HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
The Leadership Institute will help our 10th and 11th grade students develop life skills that are essential to their success in college and beyond. New this year, students will take on the role of college recruiters and give their best pitch to persuade prospective students (community volunteers) to attend their campus. Students will demonstrate their college knowledge, leadership, and communication skills covered over our two-week program in a concise, refined presentation to adult volunteers and partners. Volunteers will have the opportunity to share meaningful feedback and vote for their top pitches.
