In 2017, Beat the Odds transitioned to a more upbeat event featuring a benefit concert to bring more joy to our Central Texas community. We’ve continued this tradition for 6 years since then featuring special performances by Pat Green, TV On The Radio, Dawes, Wes Moore and most recently Grupo Fantasma. All performances have provided our whole Breakthrough community with such great experiences, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for Central Texas Youth, bringing back our benefit concert year after year!
In 2020, we came across the challenge of keeping this tradition alive during the start of the pandemic. But, our Central Texas community needed us more than ever. We paused our benefit concert to adjust to unprecedented times and transition to a virtual Community Conversation with keynote speaker, Wes Moore. Community members tuned in for a virtual conversation with best-selling author and Robin Hood CEO, Wes Moore around race, class and educational equity in Central Texas and collaborative next steps we all can take to dismantle system barriers to educational opportunities in our communities.
In 2021, we transitioned back to in-person programming and events, rebooting our Benefit Concert withGrupo Fantasma at 3Ten ACL Live
We continued this tradition again! A few weeks ago the Breakthrough community came together for the 2022 Breakthrough Benefit Concert, presented by AMD, at 3TEN ACL Live featuring Grupo Fantasma again.
