“To everyone out there with dreams, here’s what I have to say: keep that fire burning. And to Breakthrough, my own, personal fire starter, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
– Grecia, Junior at Texas Tech University
Last night, more than 1,200 Austinites came out in support of Breakthrough for an incredible evening of music under the stars with Texas Country Favorite Pat Green at Stubb’s BBQ!
Together, we raised nearly $470,000 with more donations still coming in – a new record for Breakthrough. Our work simply would not be possible without your support.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for our sponsors, especially AMD and Bank of America/U.S. Trust; event chairs, Amber Carden, Mary Garwood Yancy and Howard Yancy; the host committee; our wonderful emcee, Board Member Hector Ruiz; and everyone who attended, donated, and shared in our celebration of Breakthrough’s mission and trailblazing students and families. We are especially grateful to the Vazquez family and Grecia Lopez for sharing their Breakthrough stories. In case you missed it, you can view the video of the Vazquez Family’s Breakthrough experience here.
If you were unable to join us, were inspired by last night’s program to make an additional gift, or would like to make your pledge payment online, you can do so below. Proceeds from the 2017 Beat the Odds Benefit Concert will help Breakthrough serve an additional 1,000 first-generation college goers in the coming years.
Want to learn more about Breakthrough? Tour our newly expanded office space, meet organization leadership and staff, and learn what makes the program tick at our upcoming Open House on December 8 at 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM. Please RSVP below.
Thank you for helping make college dreams come true!
