Thank you for showing up for Central Texas youth!
Last night, the Breakthrough community came together for the 2022 Breakthrough Benefit Concert, presented by AMD, at 3TEN ACL Live featuring Grupo Fantasma.
Amidst the music and celebration of our 20th anniversary year, we were honored to have Norma Reyes, our guest speaker, reflect upon her experience from 6th grade student to St. Edwards University graduate. Norma reminded us that being first in your family to earn a college degree often requires boldness and bravery- but when you’re partnered with Breakthrough on that journey, you aren’t alone, surrounded by the support of the Breakthrough community:
So when I think back to that care package I got in my early days in college, I realize Breakthrough’s gifts were so much more than just pencils and toothpaste. It’s like I keep unwrapping new boxes – of learning, of confidence, of belonging, of information, and now the gift of my career.
I wish to pass these gifts along to others, starting with my family. I have younger cousins now attending college and my younger siblings now understand from a young age that they can graduate college too.
Moved to Give
Moved by Norma’s message and the call to support our 20th Anniversary Fund, Benefit Concert supporters donated generously, bringing our event fundraising total to more than $500,000. Special thanks to the Foresight Foundation and Stephanie & Todd Routh for issuing an event night matching gift challenge.
Congratulations to Martin Hunt whose name was drawn today for a Winner’s Choice Getaway! Our runner up prize, dinner and a staycation at the JW Marriott, goes to Andrea Kalmans!
We are incredibly grateful for the support and hope to raise an additional $5,000 before the end of the weekend so we might expand our rapidly-growing College and Career Success program. Please help by giving a gift of any amount.
Thank you again for your generous support for Breakthrough. Special thanks to our event chairs, host committee and sponsors!
