On Tuesday, November 1, nearly 400 community members and philanthropic leaders gathered to celebrate Breakthrough students beating the odds to become the first in their families to graduate from college. Thank you to our event chairs Susan and Dr. Craig Lubin, our presenting sponsor Lifesize, and all of our event sponsors and attendees. Additionally, a special thanks to our incredible line up of speakers including Breakthrough advocates Mayor Steve Adler, Maya Smart, Hector Ruiz, Breakthrough college graduate Felicia Monroe, and keynote speaker, Chancellor William H. McRaven of the UT System. Without your support, Beat the Odds would not be possible!
Together we raised more than $200,000 in sponsorships and ticket sales.
Maya Smart challenged guests to raise an additional $100,000 by the end of the night and offered a personal gift of $25,000 to help us get there.
Proceeds from the 2016 Beat the Odds Benefit will ensure that Breakthrough is able to fulfill the 12-year promise we have made to the 1,250 pioneering Breakthrough students.
