Board Trusttee: Revlynn Lawson

Trailblazer and Changemaker

Revlynn Lawson is a Breakthrough Central Texas supporter and board member, and as a first-generation graduate herself is deeply tied to our mission of helping students become the first in their family to earn a college degree. As we grow and expand, we identified a need for individuals with policy making experience, and as an advocate who lobbies for education, Revlynn has been a perfect fit at Breakthrough Central Texas.

Revlynn joined the Breakthrough Central Texas Board of Trustees in 2021. Among other acts of service, she was previously a board member of the Town Lake chapter of The Links, a service organization dedicated to community transformation including offering scholarships to Black and African-American students in our area. As she completed her time on the board there, she expressed a desire to get more involved with nonprofits in the education space as an extension of her passion for community impact and her professional expertise as an education lobbyist.

Upon joining our trustees, she dove right in to support the organization’s new Policy Advocacy practice. In both the 2021 and 2023 Legislative Sessions, Revlynn played a pivotal role in supporting Breakthrough’s efforts to host events, give testimony, and connect us with elected officials, chiefs of staff, and legislative directors to advocate on behalf of first-generation college student success. She continues to play a remarkable role in developing policy strategies, connecting to policy makers and staff, and preparing the organization for the 2025 legislative session.
