#CrushItForCharity
Austin Level-Up Games is an annual competition filled with networking, fun and philanthropy, giving Austin startup companies a chance to give back to their community. How does it work? It’s quite great. Startups enter their teams into a citywide office Olympics, where their registration fees create a pool of charitable donations. Each startup plays for the charity of their choice, and every charity walks away with a grant for their organization. And, on game day, young professionals and senior executives play side-by-side to battle in ping-pong, dodgeball, Mari Kart 64 and more!
After several years participating in the Austin Startup Games, Austin-based SpareFoot took things to a new level this year—competing for the first time in the Austin Level Up Games and taking second place overall. The silver-medal finish resulted in a $12,000 donation to Breakthrough Central Texas on behalf of SpareFoot.
For seven years, SpareFoot has competed in the original Austin Startup Games, earning a total of four gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze over the course of that time. As a result, SpareFoot has raised over $100,000 for nonprofits around town.
HOW LEVEL UP GAMES WORKS
Step #1: Companies and communities enter their teams in our citywide office Olympics.
Step #2: Their registration fees create a pool of charitable donations.
Step #3: Each team selects a partner nonprofit.
Step #4: On game day, teams battle it out in fun events like dodgeball, ping pong & Mario Kart.
Step #5: The better each team does, the more money they win for their favorite nonprofit.
Step #6: Every charity gets a donation no matter what!
SpareFoot played strong for a dramatic second place finish in our first ever Level Up Games. We’re super excited to win for Breakthrough Central Texas and even more excited to come back next year and claim overall GOLD!
