The six-week, academically intensive summer program for middle school students is the cornerstone of Breakthrough’s program. During Visitors Days, community members are invited to tour the program and meet Breakthrough students and teaching fellows.

The Leadership Institute will help our 10th-grade students develop life skills that are essential to their success in college and beyond. This year, students will take on the role of college recruiters and give their best pitch to persuade prospective students (community volunteers) to attend their campus. Students will demonstrate their college knowledge, leadership, and communication skills covered over our two-week program in a concise, refined presentation to adult volunteers and partners. Volunteers will have the opportunity to share meaningful feedback and vote for their top pitches.
