Summer is an exciting time for Breakthrough, as hundreds of middle school, high school and college students kick off their summer learning with us. We would love for you to share in their experience and see our programs in action!
ENGAGE WITH OUR STUDENTS AT PRESENTATIONS OF LEARNING
Breakthrough students at each grade level from middle school through college, demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed during the summer by participating in Presentations of Learning. Community volunteers provide essential feedback on student presentations. This meaningful interaction with caring adults and professionals helps prepare our students for both college and professional life.

SOLARWINDS 11th GRADE CAREER INSTITUTE
Thursday, August 3, 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM, SolarWinds (4 volunteers needed)
11th grade students spend their summers branching out with activities like volunteer projects, internships and camps that will build their college resumes. At the end of the summer, students will present their experiences, what they learned, and how it will help them on their journey to college, to a panel that will provide feedback on their presentation skills.
12th GRADE COLLEGE APPLICATION INSTITUTE
Friday, August 4, 12:00 PM – 2:45 PM, UTC at UT Austin (13 volunteers needed)
The College Application Institute helps our 12th graders prepare college applications, essays, and resumes, in addition to familiarizing themselves with the financial aid process. At the end of the program, students participate in “mock college interviews” with community members to practice their professional communication skills, vocalize their educational aspirations, and get to know their dream institutions. We are specifically recruiting counselors, college admission or university personnel, scholarship program representatives, college application coaches or others with similar experience.
FUTURE FOCUS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Friday, August 11, Time TBD, Farm Credit Bank of Texas (16 volunteers needed)
Future Focus is a collaborative internship program for Breakthrough and KIPP Collegiate high school graduates to gain invaluable professional experience through paid internships at businesses in the Austin area. At the conclusion of these internships, students will give presentations on what the experience taught them to a panel of volunteers.
